iLivingApp.com – Is It, Isn’t It, Haven’t Got A Clue, OMG, I Just Don’t Know!

iLivingApp

Well I’m giving it a go!

I like to recommend things that I personally either believe in myself or have been up front about.

iLivingApp launched on the 1st February 2013 so the truth is nobody knows how well it will do yet but from the due diligence that I have done it mostly looks like it’s worth ago. Whatever happens, with such a low entry cost it won’t be a big deal if it doesn’t go the course. If you don’t join, especially at the beginning, it does do well and you miss out then it’s bit like not playing the lottery when you had the winning numbers. READ MORE

White As A Sheet? Now You Wish You Had Paid More Attention (It’s All Gone)

A bit of an old chestnut this one but I know that some of us are still not taking this seriously and sooner or later there will be tears …

Let Me Tell You A Story

A few years back a small recruitment agency who was a customer of mine for their telecoms and who I liked were so far as I can tell doing OK and were building a good business. Time passes and one day I get a phone call that went something like this  (I don’t remember the exact time or the exact words but this is close enough):

Customer: “Hi Stuart, I wonder if you can help us out, can you get our phone records for the last 3 months” READ MORE

Simple Solo Ads – Part 2 – Swap’s And Update

Swap’s And Update

Scary Huh! Or maybe not, perhaps you have fond memories for Noel Edmonds Swap Shop (an old UK TV show). Anyway, it was the best I could do 🙂

This is not about Swap Shop. It’s a “Simple Solo Ads” update and I will talk about swapping, click swapping. It doesn’t matter if you are new at internet marketing or have been around for a while, swapping is a great way to increase the size of your list. It doesn’t normally cost any money but it will take up a little bit of time. You can bank clicks as well. I will of course explain 🙂 READ MORE

My 15 Favourite Mobile Apps

Mobile Apps

There are loads and loads and … loads of mobile apps available for both Android and iPhone. I juts had a look and it looks like iPhone and Android are more or less neck and neck with about 700,000 mobile apps each.

I guess Blackberry are fading and to be honest I never liked them much anyway (sorry Blackberry lovers). Oops, I must not forget Microsoft Windows for Mobiles which I am sure will burble along for a long, long time but still doesn’t look like it’s going to set the world on fire. READ MORE

HTML And WordPress

HTML And WordPress

HTML? That’s programming code isn’t it, too difficult for me I don’t understand it, one for the experts, nope too hard. I’ve heard that if you stare at it for more than 10 minutes you go a bit funny and could even get a nervous breakdown …. gulp!

Ok, I jest, I’m sorry but … it is true that most people are, I don’t know, scared of code. Strictly speaking HTML is not a programming language it’s mark up code for formatting and has been around for years. Mark up codes were around before computers. I’m scared of balance sheets and accounts in general. Show me a corporation tax return and you might as well call an ambulance for me 😐 READ MORE

Gold Marketing Extreme, Brand Up

Marketing Extreme

I went to a 3 day training session over the weekend. It was a DEA (Digital Experts Academy) Gold training course. Altogether it was really good. I have to admit that I didn’t really enjoy the first day as I think it lacked content and was, well a bit boring and repetitive. Some people liked it but not me, I guess nothing is perfect.  The second and third days were fantastic though and I can genuinely rave about them.

The course was hosted by Stuart Ross and Jay Kubassek. There were two main speakers, Red Rose (for real) and Daniel Wagner.  Red spoke for one and a half days and Daniel for a little less than half a day. READ MORE

How did I get to be in a band – part 1 – yeah, OK, let’s do it!

In a band

My friend John said “if you get a drum kit we’ll form a band” so I did and we formed a band.

Before I get going though I should say that this is the 70’s and I was a weekend hippie so sex drugs and rock and roll applies … that’s the way it was. As I started to write this I started to remember more stuff so now it’s not a potted history anymore, I’ll have to write it in more than one part, not sure how many yet. Some memories are a bit vague and I’m not sure of the chronological order of things any more. I recently found my old band diaries so I can probably sort most of the order of things out as I get time to do it. Anyway, we’ll see … join me on a journey … READ MORE

Constant complainer

Constant complainer – really a pain in the —

In this post I’m just copying word for word from Donna Merrill’s excellent article on constant complainers. I couldn’t put it better myself so here it is. If you suffer from a constant complainer then I feel for you and if you are a constant complainer then I feel for you too but please, if you can change your attitude you will have a better life and so will those around you!

Sorry if anyone is offended but really, this is so true. I have had my fill of constant complainers this week hence this blog. READ MORE

All About URL Trackers

URL trackers, what are they?

If you are doing any kind of online marketing and you want to know what’s going on with your campaigns then this is an important and very useful tool to use.

A URL tracker is a URL (Uniform Resource Locator) or if you like, an indirect web link that is used to count the number of times a link is clicked.

Why would you want to do this? Well, let’s say you sent a promotional email to 500 people with a link in it.  Would you like to know how many people clicked that link?  Let’s say 50 people clicked the link.  A little later you send out another email with different copy in it but for the same promotion, let’s say that 100 people click the link this time … which of the 2 emails are you most likely to send out next time?  Clearly the second email appears to be more effective but you would only know that by knowing how many people clicked it. Make the application and get in now!

Digital Marketing!

If you have been following my blogs then you will know by now that I always try to be straight with people and this post is no different.

The important bit – a heads up

Much of the Six Figure Mentors is about quality and that side of things is going to get even better. In fact if you have any interest in Digital Marketing and believe that the Six Figure Mentors might be right for you then you should get into it now before things do change.  I can’t say anything about what is happening until it’s all formally announced but there’s nothing else out there quite like it and it is definitely an advantage to at least make an application to join the SFM now and, here’s the link. If you have already seen enough and have more or less decided that the Six Figure Mentors is right for you then you can join up here. Don’t leave it too long though, by the time we get to November 2012 it may be too late. READ MORE

Banners Broker – is it or isn’t it, should I care?

Loads of people are in Banners Broker and they are right when they say you are bound to make money out of it … as long as you maintain it (which is easy) … and as long as Banners Broker doesn’t shut down or anything.

A lot of people’s first question is probably “is Banners Broker a scam?” and will then Google it to find out. They will probably come up with lots of sites telling you it’s not a scam with a few that say it is. So is it?  Well, I’ve pondered over this and I can’t really say for sure but I’ll tell you some of what I do know and you can decide. Before I do though, another question is “does it matter?” and for my answer to this please see my post Dodgy Schemes on the internet. READ MORE

Is your connection to the internet important to you?

For this blog I mostly talk about internet marketing related stuff with an occasional digression.  So far I have laid off the bad jokes and really off track stuff.  In this blog post I’m going off track but still related to internet marketing, just a bit more physical because … if you do anything online you need to be connected …

As well as internet marketing I also run an eCommerce site selling routers and other network gear called iwantrouters.com.  With a 20 year background in IT and 7 years in telecoms I have gathered some proficiency in these things (well I like to think so).  In fact as well as selling routers etc., I can also supply business class broadband, telephone lines, phone systems and most of the other stuff that goes with telecoms.  Anyway, I am not writing this to pitch my stuff but to talk a bit about broadband, in a straightforward and non-techy way … oh, what the heck, what I can supply is listed at the end of this blog … if you’re interested just let me know. Are Google the new dictators?

Most people know that Google’s motto is “Don’t be evil”.

But before I go any further please watch this video snippet for 2 minutes and 46 seconds. It’s A segment from the Australian show ‘Hungry Beast’ Aired on Australia’s ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) network.

Personally I like a lot of the things Google do, I use a lot of their products and I don’t want to turn this into a “let’s bash Google” article (but I probably will, a bit), it’s intended more as a thought provoker and for interest. READ MORE

Simple Solo Ads – Part 1

Some people say solo ads are an easy and quick way to build a list.  Some people say solo ads are the lazy way to build a list (in which case I say “good”).  Anyway, I quite like solo ads, they are simple and quick.  Most solo list owners are responsive and direct so you don’t waste your time chasing people about or having long conversations, most of them just get on with it.

This blog I may repeat/update a few times as my own experience with solo list owners increases but I’ll tell you what I know so far. READ MORE

Ok then, if I join the Six Figure Mentors, what will I get?

Why would you want to Join the Six Figure Mentors, I mean really, what makes it better or different?

There are some things that are unique to the Six Figure Mentors but if I’m straight with you, you could probably get all the information and training elsewhere and possibly for free! But … here you get it all in one place, in logical sequence, already tried and tested, with support, with the benefit of experience, in digestible chunks and more.

I have said before that one of the great things about The Six Figure Mentors is that the system does not stand still.  As things change the site gets updated.  Small improvements occur regularly and recently there has been a significant update. This keeps things up to date, fresh and interesting.  It is of course important that things do not change so much or so fast that you cannot keep up. READ MORE

HTML or text emails, which is best, your opinion?

This is a question really.

There are lots of pros and cons about sending and receiving emails in text or HTML format.

Plain and simple text doesn’t get picked up by spam filters so much and is much easier to read on mobile phones etc.  It’s much more to the point but clearly it’s not as pretty as HTML.  HTML gives you a much nicer presentation with pictures, videos and other things that you can put in them.  In the end the content you actually need most of the time is pretty much the same. The Charles Schulz Philosophy

Peanuts

Actually this is a bit wet but hey … I like Peanuts, I work for em and we need a bit of trivia now and then 🙂

Take the time to Scroll thru slowly and read carefully to receive and enjoy full effect.

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schulz, the creator of the ‘Peanuts’ comic strip.

You don’t have to actually answer the questions. Just ponder on them.

Just read the e-mail straight through, and you’ll get the point.

  1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
  2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
  3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America pageant.
  4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
  5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.
  6. Name the last decade’s worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday.

These are no second-rate achievers.

They are the best in their fields.

But the applause dies.. READ MORE

My 10 favourite free utilities

Ok, the picture above has nothing to do with my 10 favourite free utilities, it is in fact part of a campaign that United Utilities held in 2011, they provide water but it’s a lot more interesting than the picture I was going to put up here 🙂  It’s a ploy to get people interested that’s all, did it work, I dunno, perhaps you’ll let me know or tell me off or something!?

When I came to write this and I looked on my computer I realised that I didn’t use that many utilities so I struggled to get to the 10.  Perhaps that means that at least the ones I do have are useful, I don’t know.  Anyway they may or may not be the most cutting edge ones available but they do the job and that’s what’s important!  I have some others but I hardly use them.
